Australia’s agriculture industry cannot grow without Chinese investment, says one expert in the area.

And he also said it was ‘ridiculous’ to be concerned about a ‘takeover’.

Will Lempriere, Chairman of Lempriere Group and partner in Cubbie Station, told Tom Elliott $600 billion was needed each year just to sustain the industry, let alone grow it.

‘What people need to realise is Australia has a remarkable opportunity to grow its agricultural sector,’ Mr Lempiere explained on 3AW Drive.

‘But to do that, it has no choice but to attract foreign capital – it’s as simple as that.

‘There’s no other way to cut the cake.’
