Chris Scott confident his stars don’t need to play JLT
Geelong coach Chris Scott says he’s confident his star players don’t need to play preseason games to be ready for round one.
The Cats will take a young team to Townsville, leaving behind Selwood, Dangerfield, Harry Taylor and Gary Ablett – who is out injured.
Speaking on Sportsday, Scott said he’s not concerned about his star line up.
“Those guys are all in really good shape, Gary’s got a minor hamstring tear, he’s in line for round one,” Scott said.
“We’re really confident the amount of match simulation we do will have them ready.”

Scott was brimming with praise for Ablett, as he wasn’t at Geelong when Ablett was there the first time around.
“I’ve love it, early in my coaching career I made mention of the fact that the only disappointing thing about coming to Geelong was missing the chance to coach Gary Ablett,” Scott said.
“It’s been really inspiring for me.”
