City of Yarra replaces Greens mayor

The City of Yarra has replaced its Greens mayor with its youngest mayoral candidate, who is not affiliated with any political party.

Independent Cr Daniel Nguyen was elected Mayor last night (as seen below) and at 29-years-old is Yarra’s youngest Councillor.

Yarra resident Tom Elliott urged Cr Nguyen to focus on grassroots issues rather than continue with the vernacular of outgoing mayor Cr Amanda Stone.

“The number of things we do go beyond the rates, roads and rubbish,” Cr Nguyen said.
