Claims singer Gurrumul was ‘racially profiled’ by staff at a Darwin hospital
The Northern Territory’s Health Minister has labelled claims that staff at a Darwin Hospital racially profiled indigenous singer Gurrumul and allowed him to bleed internally for hour as ‘reprehensible and disgraceful’.
Gurrumul was brought to the Royal Darwin Hospital over Easter, with his condition deteriorating as he waited about eight hours for surgery.
His manager Mark Grose says the hospital staff were either incompetent or they denied him care having assumed he was a drinker.
