‘Clean up time is here’: NDIS overhaul getting closer to becoming reality
Issues surrounding the NDIS system continue to make headway, with Treasurer Jim Chalmers warning the current scheme is not affordable.
Australia’s National Disability Insurance Scheme currently costs upwards of $50 billion, with Chalmers saying that its overhaul would be a central part of upcoming budget.
Speaking with Ross and Russ, chief executive of Autism Awareness Australia, Nicole Rogerson, said that the help the NDIS provides cannot be forgotten, but it cannot be hemorrhaging funds.

“The NDIS cannot be a runaway train of cost, we need it to be here in the long run, and successive governments have failed. The NDIS has, as has the agency itself. So clean up time is here,” Rogerson said.
Health and Disability Minister, Mark Butler, will announce incoming changes at the National Press Club in Canberra tomorrow.
