The Andrews Government has been accused of breaking a promise not to close any Victorian police stations.

Tom Elliott revealed on Monday there was a closed sign on the door of the Burwood station, with a local business owner telling 3AW Drive it had led to crime.

Shadow Police Minister Edward O’Donohue called on Labor to clear up what was happening.

‘I think Wade Noonan and Daniel Andrews need to come out and be clear with the local community in Burwood about exactly what is going on,’ he said on 3AW Drive.

Local business owner Paul Kerny said petty crime was flourishing in Burwood.

‘From what I believe, it’s been unattended for a few months and on and off for a couple of years,’ he explained.

Mr Kerny has had his car broken into twice already this year.

‘It’s just the lack of police presence,’ he said.
