Coalition backbencher says cutting holidays would help teachers
A Coalition backbencher who’s called for teachers to have fewer holidays says he’s actually trying to help the profession.
Andrew Laming created a stir by suggesting a 48-week working year for teachers.
“I’ve called for teachers to be paid for the hours they work,” he told Tom Elliott.
He said if teachers were doing as much as work outside of school hours as reported, then they needed to be compensated.
“It would de-clutter their lives,” he said.
