Victoria’s Code Brown will end and elective surgery will return at many hospitals today.

From midday Monday, private hospitals in Melbourne can perform up to 50 per cent of all elective surgery, while regional private hospitals can carry out up to 75 per cent.

Regional public hospitals can also resume all category two elective surgery.

The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital can resume all category two elective surgery from Monday, while all other public hospitals in metropolitan Melbourne remain restricted to emergency and urgent elective surgery.

Further easing of restrictions will be considered next week if staff are available and hospitalisations continue to fall.
