With a third of Shepparton in isolation last week after a COVID-19 outbreak, keeping supermarket shelves stocked, stores open and deliveries flowing was a serious challenge.

Coles chief operating officer Matt Swindells says almost half of Coles staff in the area were isolating.

“As you can imagine, if half your team is not there it’s tough to keep food supplies going,” he told Ross and Russel.

But Mr Swindells says the situation is improving.

“From yesterday I think we broke the back of it,” he said.

“From today you can get an online delivery same day, like you would in metro.

“We normally run a couple of vans out of Shepparton, we’ve increased that to nine.”
