Collingwood CEO Gary Pert was on ‘that’ flight with Grant Hackett

Under fire swimming great Grant Hackett has found an unlikely ally in Collingwood CEO Gary Pert.

Pert was on the flight which ended in Hackett being detained by federal police following a reported dispute with another passenger.

But Pert told Neil Mitchell much of what had been reported was wrong.

‘The only reason I’m talking about it is because I’m hearing all sorts of bizarre stories about Grant being ‘out of control’ and causing trouble and being restrained in the flight and it was quite the opposite,’ he said on 3AW Mornings.

‘I think Grant would be the first to admit he was affected by alcohol and was literally asleep or passed out on the flight the majority of the time.’

Pert said Hackett wasn’t aggressive and there was no argument.
