Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley says Matt Scharenberg wants to stay a Magpie
Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley has poured cold water on suggestions talented youngster Matt Scharenberg wants to leave the club.
But he admits a deal still needs to be struck between the Pies and player.
Speaking on 3AW, Buckley said Scharenberg had told him he wanted to stay with the club that drafted him at the end of 2013.
The injury-plagued youngster has only managed three games since joining the Pies and is yet to sign a contract extension.
‘I know there’s a bit of talk around at the moment, but talking to ‘Schaz’ – he wants to stay with us – and has directed his management to that end,’ Buckley said on Sports Today.
‘It’s just a matter of finding a fair and equitable arrangement for that to proceed.’
