Collingwood suspends Jordan De Goey after he lied about how he broke his hand
Collingwood has confirmed Jordan De Goey lied to the club about how he broke his hand.
He was involved in a fight at a St Kilda bar last Friday night.
He’d told the Pies he suffered the injury playing with his dog, a version coach Nathan Buckley embarrassingly repeated at a press conference on Monday.
The Pies have suspended De Goey for three games, with that ban to start after De Goey has recovered fully from his injury.
He’s also been fined $5000 and given 10 weeks of community service.
De Goey confessed to the Pies after he had surgery on Monday afternoon.
He phoned football manager Geoff Walsh to tell him what really happened.
Walsh joined Gerard Healy, Dwayne Russell and Caroline Wilson on Sportsday to detail what was said in that phone call.
