Comedian Tom Ballard debates refugees with Tom Elliott

Aussie comedian Tom Ballard has a new comedy show at this year’s festival.

Ballard describes his show as a – ‘Comedy lecture’.

Drive Host Tom Elliott asked Ballard ‘What are some of your ideas you flesh out in your performance?’ 

‘I think we need to shut down off shore detention, Nauru and Manus island are ‘gulags’ and stains on Australias soul.

‘I cannot see how sending 37 babies back to Nauru keeps anyone safer.’

Tom hit back, saying ‘You do realise a lot of people (that) live in Nauru like the Nauruans find it not a bad place to live?’

Ballard says that’s not necessarily true.
