V/Line commuters have been told to avoid travel as major delays are expected to last even after the strike ends.

Chief executive officer of V/Line, Matt Carrick, says limited coaches will be available for those who have no choice but to travel from or to regional areas.

“We’ve had around 1400 passengers on buses up to about a quarter to eight, so numbers are way down … so people have heeded the warning,” he told 3AW Breakfast.
