CONFIRMED: Police officers attacked by prisoners at Moorabbin station
CONFIRMED: Eight police officers were attacked at a suburban police station on Monday night after four prisoners allegedly broke out of custody.
Police have confirmed they were investigating reports of members being briefly overpowered at Moorabbin Station.
The disturbing incident happened at 10.20pm, with unconfirmed reports officers had their own pepper spray used on them.
Of the eight officers allegedly attacked, two had to be taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The four alleged offenders did not manage to escape the facility and have since been apprehended.
A 34-year-old man, a 28-year-old man and two 24-year-old men have been charged with escape, assaulting police and various other offences.
Victoria Police will review its security measures after the incident.?
