Confirmed: One of the Melbourne’s most expensive properties is being demolished.

Neil Mitchell listener John confirmed what was first mooted on the 3AW Breakfast Rumour File this morning.

The grand home at 16 St Georges Rd in Toorak was bought for about $20 million in 2013.

It was reported at the time a mainland Chinese investor flew into Melbourne on his private jet to buy the home.

‘I was just walking past,’ John told 3AW Mornings.

‘It’s not every day you see a property worth $20 million having a bulldozer taken to it.

‘About half the house is down and looks like it’s going to continue on.’

The house has been been vacant for many months.

It sits on a block of about one acre.
