Convicted sex attacker returns to custody after prison escape

A convicted sex attacker who walked out of jail is back in custody.

Barry Dettman, 51, is serving time for a range of offences including indecent acts in the presence of a child and wilful and obscene exposure.

He was seen walking along the Western Highway at Trawalla just after 10am on Sunday after escaping from Langi Kal Kal Minimum Security Prison.

It’s understood he had less than a month left of his sentence.

Dettman was spotted in Werribee on Monday afternoon and arrested by 5pm.

He’s back in jail.
