A viral social media trend has sparked mayhem at a screening of ‘A Minecraft Movie’ in Ringwood last night.

The craze involves moviegoers launching popcorn and drinks when Jack Black’s character introduces the “chicken jockey”.

But the trend escalated at Eastland Hoyts last night, when teens let off a fire extinguisher, causing moviegoers to choke, and parent Mel told 3AW Breakfast her kids were terrified.

Press PLAY to hear her vivid account of what happened inside the cinema

“It scared a lot of children, a lot of grandparents,” Mel told Mark Allen and Jimmy Bartel.

“You couldn’t breathe, you couldn’t swallow, the kids were choking, my kids were crying, their eyes were burning.”
