Council accused of sabotaging controversial golf course

Darebin City Council has been accused of sabotaging the controversial Northcote golf course.

The public course became a picnic hub during COVID lockdowns, which led to calls for it to be permanently turned into a green space.

Understandably, local golfers were angered by those calls and a compromise was reached, with the course being re-configurated in the hope of satisfying both parties.

But the golfers have been left far from happy with how that’s turned out.

“The whole thing is a joke and it’s not safe and people here are angry,” Julie Williams told 3AW Afternoons.
