Bins on the Mornington Peninsula won’t be collected as regularly as they normally are in summer due to a shortage of drivers.

And with a population spike in the area over the summer months, there are concerns it could lead to mess.

Recycling bins are collected weekly over a six week period usually, but that won’t apply this summer.

It will be a fortnightly collection.

Tom Elliott said that could prove problematic over the Christmas / New Year period with cardboard and bottles needing collection.

“I don’t dispute that, at all,” Anthony Marsh, Mayor of the Mornington Peninsula Shire, said on 3AW Drive.
