State government agency in Victoria’s south-west slammed after taking ‘cruel’ measures to keep pelicans off light posts
A state government agency is being criticised by residents after they took extreme measures to keep pelicans off light posts.
Indented Head resident, Heather Snook says residents were not consulted, and says she’ll keep pushing a petition to get the changes reverted.
“I wrote to them last week, they sent me a letter to say … they’re [the pelicans] causing the light poles – the plastic to corrode and it’s costing … money to have to fix them … I think it’s just cruel,” she told Tony Jones, filling in for Jacqui Felgate.
Press PLAY to hear what Bellarine Bayside has done
A previous version of this article claimed the Bellarine council was responsible for the decision to implement the measures, it’s been confirmed Bellarine Bayside was the agency responsible for the implementation.
