Council Watch: Resident’s fury over backyard demolition plans

Jacqui Felgate

A man has been told his backyard will be ripped up to make way for his neighbour’s second garage.

Strathmore resident Keith King told Tom Elliott he was not consulted once before he received a letter informing him his backyard would be dug up.

Mr King said a developer handed him a letter on a City of Moonee Valley letterhead explaining his yard would be dug up in order to install new pipes and drainage pits.

He says the work is to allow his neighbour to build a second garage close to the edge of Mr King’s property.

Mr King is worried he will lose his garden and advanced trees in the yard.
