Country ‘cannot sit by’ as road toll soars according to Shadow Police Minister
Victorian Shadow Police Minister Brad Battin says the state “cannot sit by” as the national road toll soars.
Following the tragic alleged hit-and-run death of 18-year-old Charlie Stevens – the son of South Australia Police Commissioner Grant Stevens – the family released a touching letter which has been widely shared, highlighting throughout the current road toll in the state.
Mr Battin says he felt similarly emotional while reading the letter, saying action has to be taken to try and prevent death on our roads.

“You cannot sit by and led the road toll grow,” he told Neil Mitchell on 3AW Drive.
“I read the letter again this morning and I watched the clip of it being read on Channel 9. You can’t help but feel emotional when you listen to it.”
