Victoria’s new COVID-19 case figure has returned to triple-digits.

There have been 113 new COVID-19 cases recorded in the past 24 hours.

It comes after three consecutive days of new case figures in double-digits.

Another 15 people, all in their 80s and 90s, have died with coronavirus, bringing the Victorian death toll from the pandemic to 591.

Nine of the new deaths occurred prior to yesterday, including eight in one aged care facility.

Of the 15 deaths reported today, 14 are linked to aged care.

The number of COVID-19 tests conducted has jumped by 82,309.

Premier Daniel Andrews said the jump “is largely attributed to a very large batch of negative tests that have now been brought to book and included in the overall total”.

“Yesterday’s tests, the normal number I would report to you is, in fact, 17,098,” Mr Andrews said.

There are currently:

  •  2295 active COVID-19 cases
  • 126 active cases in regional Victoria
  • 361 people in hospital
  • 20 people in intensive care
  • 15 people on ventilators
  • 17,098 people were tested in the past 24 hours.

Victorian new cases this week:
August 27: 113
August 28: 113
August 29: 94
August 30: 114
August 31: 73
September 1: 70
September 2: 90
TODAY: 113
