Craig Foster has walked back his criticism of Matildas’ captain Sam Kerr after she allegedly racially harassed a white British police officer.

The former Socceroos captain and member of the Australian Multicultural Council, now says he didn’t understand racism, and Sam Kerr couldn’t have been racist towards the officer, as he isn’t part of any “marginalised” community.

“I made it very clear that Sam is wrong, she made a mistake here, …  but racism is something different and it’s something we don’t understand very well that we don’t understand,” he told Tom Elliott.
