Craig Handasyde, 48, sentenced to 12 months jail over sexual abuse of eight disabled men in care

A devout Christian and father of eight has been jailed for a year after confessing to the sexual abuse of eight severely disabled men in his care.

Former Department of Human Services disability officer Craig Handasyde, 48, assaulted residents at several care facilities in Melbourne’s east over a 13-year period.

Many of his victims could barely communicate, so his crimes were not revealed until he was overcome by guilt and confessed to police last year.
