Hit-run involving police causes Eastern Freeway chaos

A crash involving a police vehicle this morning caused major delays on the Eastern Freeway.

Police were responding to a single vehicle crash just prior to Hoddle Street at about 5.10am when another vehicle — believed to be a Mercedes — hit the police vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Fortunately no-one was injured.

The incident caused major traffic delays on the Eastern Freeway inbound throughout the morning peak with cars banked back to Burke Road.
