The Victorian Government has just ticked off on a monster $1.7 billion new tower for Crown Casino.

The tower will soar 323 metres into Melbourne’s skyline.

It will be 26 metres taller than the Eureka Tower.

The building will feature 388 hotel rooms, as well as more than 700 residential addresses.

There will be no new gaming facilities.

The project, located on the site of the old Queensbridge Hotel, is expected to take five to six years and the government says it will create 4000 new jobs

‘Inbound tourism has grown exponentially,’ planning minister Richard Wynne told Neil Mitchell.

‘We need many more hotel rooms than what we’ve currently got.’
