CULTURE CLASH – Rolf de Heer & Molly Reynolds discuss their new indigenous doco ‘Another Country’.

In Another Country acting legend David Gulpilil, veteran filmmaker Rolf de Heer and director Molly Reynolds provide a sobering and clear explanation of what happened when black culture was ‘interrupted’ by white culture, and examines the present-day consequences.

Without sensationalism, finger-pointing or the need for talking heads or politics, the film dissects the issues of indigenous poverty and unemployment, with its focus on David Gulpilil’s community of Ramingining.

Here directors Rolf de Heer – who directed Gulpilil to a Best Actor AACTA award in Charlie’s Country – and Molly Reynolds discuss the film in detail, and why the time for it is right.

Please enjoy – and be sure to check out the bonus footage at the end.
