The man who drove a leading trainer and jockey in the Melbourne Cup parade has spoken of a harrowing experience with a knife-wielding man.

Scott Bocksette was about to drive David Hayes and Dwayne Dunn through the parade when his car was kicked by a man upset with disruptions to the tram timetable.

When the driver confronted the man, he was threatened at knifepoint.

A 61-year-old man of no fixed address faced Melbourne Magistrate’s Court yesterday on several charges including criminal damage, possessing a weapon, and threats to seriously injure.

He will face court again on November 10.
