Damien Oliver slapped with 20 meeting suspension over ‘reckless’ Wednesday ride
Champion jockey Damien Oliver will miss two of Australia’s biggest racedays.
He failed in appealing the 20-meeting suspension handed to him on Wednesday.
Oliver was charged with reckless riding while steering promising colt Flying Artie to victory in the Blue Sapphire Stakes at Caulfield.
The decision left Oliver ‘shocked.’
But he failed in getting the charge overturned on appeal and also failed to have his penalty reduced.
The highly-sought-after jockey will miss the Cox Plate and Derby Day.
He’ll return to the saddle on Melbourne Cup day.
