Dan Tehan calls for convicted terrorists to be treated like sex offenders
There’s a formal push for convicted terrorists to be treated like sex offenders and kept behind bars if they’re deemed a threat to the community, even if their sentence has expired.
Federal Liberal MP Dan Tehan, who is chair of the national security committee, is behind the push, which is set for discussion at COAG.
‘We already have procedures in place for sex offenders and in some states, violent criminals, if it’s decided they are unsafe to go back out into the community,’ he told Tom Elliott on 3AW Drive.
‘We don’t have that for terrorists.
‘We need to look at this.’
