Daniel Andrews rules out state memorial service for George Pell

There will not be a state memorial service for George Pell in Victoria.

Daniel Andrews categorically ruled it out when asked by reporters on Thursday.

“I couldn’t think of anything that would be more distressing for victims (and) survivors than that,” the Premier said.

Pell died suddenly this week following  complications while undergoing what had been described as “minor” surgery on his hip.

He was 81.
