Darebin Council requests kids’ basketball ring be removed
A Macleod man’s plan to get kids active has hit a Council hurdle.
Nick Vass has a basketball hoop and soccer goal set up outside his home on the end of a cul-de-sac for the neighbourhood kids to enjoy, but now the Council wants them removed.
‘They received a complaint that the gear is a trip hazard,’ Mr Vass told Neil Mitchell on Thursday.
He will be fined $500 if it isn’t removed by the 23rd.
Mr Vass has been a physical education teacher for nearly 20 years.
‘It’s hard enough getting kids off their iPads,’ he said.
‘This is another hurdle that we don’t need.’
