The daughter of the only female casualty listed on Australia’s Vietnam War honour role has shared her mother’s remarkably story on 3AW.

Barbara Black served as a nurse during the conflict, where she was diagnosed with Leukaemia. But she wasn’t told.

She gave birth to daughter Emma once she returned before passing away from the cancer at the age of just 25.

But Barbara successfully fought to have a silly law changed before she died so her daughter could live a better life.

‘I am proud, I am very proud,’ Emma Black told Justin Smith on 3AW.
