Port Adelaide chairman David Koch has hit back at suggestions his club and the AFL took ‘too long’ to condemn the racial element to the ugly Eddie Betts incident.

Koch said it was easy for people to criticise and jump to conclusions on social media.

‘I think that’s a stupid comment,’ Koch said on 3AW Mornings.

‘You’ve always got to get to the bottom of it.

‘It happened at 10pm on a Saturday night.

‘We wanted to fully investigate what exactly went on.

‘Our members contacted the club and gave us all the reports and accounts that backed up to say it was racially motivated.

‘How many times have we been mislead by social media?’
