Sky News Political Editor David Speers says station management has not received any complaints about its news service screening in Metro train stations, in contrast to comments made by the Victorian Transport Minster today.

It comes as Jacinta Allan announced the service would be pulled, in the wake of “dozens and dozens” of complaints relating to an interview with Neo-Nazi Blair Cottrell.

Speers told Tom Elliott he agreed the interview never should have taken place but this decision is a step too far.

“She’s taken the principal view, as many have, that that interview should not have gone to air and we’ve copped that on the chin, and I agree,” David said.

“I’ve checked with management here and they say they have not received any complaints and the provider of the service have not received any complaints to the best of my knowledge.

“She said she’d received dozens and dozens and later said hundreds and hundreds.

“I think it’s a bad day for the freedom of the press when these sort of decisions are taken, it seems to be based on facts which really don’t stack up.”
