Dayne Beams appointed captain of the Brisbane Lions

Dayne Beams is the new captain of the Brisbane Lions.

The former Collingwood star edged out former skipper Tom Rockliff and Dayne Zorko for the role.

Sportsday’s Mitch Cleary revealed on 3AW on February 1 that Beams had emerged as a leading contender for the position.

The 2010 premiership player will lead the club under new coach Chris Fagan.
