Death toll from Italy earthquake soars to at least 247
The death toll from a devastating earthquake in central Italy has soared.
Authorities have confirmed at least 247 people have been killed in the 6.2 magnitude quake, which struck early Wednesday morning local time.
Hundreds of others have been injured.
Many more remain missing.
Amatrice and Accumoli were hit particularly hard by the quake, with the damage extensive.
Crews continue to work around the clock trying to find survivors.
