Dee Jolly says online trolls are ‘weak’
Controversial reality TV star Dee Jolly has backed AFL champion Jonathan Brown, branding red-carpet trolls as ‘weak’ in the lead up to the Brownlow Medal.
Jolly, who attended the count once with partner Darren, told 3AW Mornings it was ‘tough’ for the wives and girlfriends of players.
Brown came out swinging over the weekend, slamming those who were critical of what players’ partners wore on the AFL’s night of nights.
Jolly, who was also subject to a tirade of online abuse while on The Block, agreed it was taxing for those not used to it.
She said she didn’t understand why some viewed the women as ‘fair game’, given most were there to simply support their partner.
‘It’s definitely a baptism of fire and certainly something that takes getting used to,’ she explained on 3AW.
‘I found it really difficult the first time around.
‘It’s shocking that there’s so many people out there that have awful things to say, based on knowing very little about you at all.
‘It’s a sad part of the way society is now, that people feel the need to be so critical and judgmental.’
