Demons great slams ‘selfish’ Melbourne player choices

Melbourne legend David Schwarz is concerned about the state of his former club ahead of the 2024 season.

His comments come after a turbulent 24 hours for the Demons, which has seen news of Joel Smith’s potential two-year drugs ban emerge, as well as Clayton Oliver’s continued absense from the club due to personal issues continue.

“There’s just too much smoke around Melbourne at the moment,” he said on Wide World of Sports.

“The Joel Smith (positive drugs test), there’s been board issues and Clayton’s issues. There’s just something not right down there at Melbourne. Some of the choices Melbourne players are making are the wrong choices.

“There are clearly choices being made by players which are selfish and would indicate that it isn’t a really happy environment at the moment.”
