Dentists speak out against ‘callous’ Victorian payroll tax change
All Victorian dental practitioners will soon be subject to payroll tax, including previously exempt independent contractors.
Australian Dental Association President Dr Stephen Liew says the Victorian State Revenue Office’s ruling will put dental practices at risk of closure as tax bills will likely be backdated.
“It’s basically an unsanctioned, no consultation, six figure tax bill coming back at practice owners that have been drowning since the pandemic,” he told Neil Mitchell.
