Deputy Commissioner denies report police cannot shoot at moving vehicles
Victoria Police have refuted reports that officers cannot shoot at moving vehicles.
Deputy Commissioner Andrew Crisp told Tony Jones the Herald Sun report is not entirely accurate.
Mr Crisp said officers may shoot at moving vehicles, but not as a means of disabling it.
‘You’ve got to be a pretty good shot to shoot a tyre out,’ he said.
‘But even if you do, it’s not going to stop the vehicle.’
Mr Crisp said officers are still permitted to shoot at a vehicle in certain circumstances.
