Derryn Hinch blasts former Attorney General for state of Victoria’s bail system
Straight-shooting Senator Derryn Hinch has blasted former Attorney General Rob Hulls for the state of Victoria’s bail system.
In studio for his first slot with 3AW Mornings for 2017, Mr Hinch expressed his sadness and anger following Friday’s CBD carnage on Bourke Street.
He told Neil Mitchell he ‘just knew’ the alleged offender was going to be on bail when he heard the news.
Mr Hinch accused the former Deputy Premier of appointing ‘soft judges and magistrates’ while serving as Attorney General.
‘I sat in that seat where you are and said when he retired in 2012 that this man’s behaviour will be reflected here for the next 20 years,’ Senator Hinch said.
‘You’re getting these soft judges and soft magistrates that were appointed by Rob Hulls.’
