Derryn Hinch will respect decision of Fair Work Commission on penalty rates
Derryn Hinch has accused Labor leader Bill Shorten of ‘grandstanding’ over penalty rates.
He expects the opposition to try and ’embarrass’ him into voting ‘for or against’ the decision made by the Fair Work Commission.
Speaking with Neil Mitchell, Senator Hinch said the decision must be respected.
‘It’s not our call,’ Mr Hinch said on 3AW Mornings.
‘You must leave it independent.
‘If the Fair Work Commission had increased wages by 10 per cent ? it’s still their call ? not ours.
‘That’s the way it must be.
‘If you vote against them on this one, then you might as well scrap the Fair Work Commission and whichever government is in can bend it and bleed the way they want.’
