‘Disgraceful behaviour’: Councillor hits out at funding for the ‘yes’ vote
Councillor for the City of Merri-bek, Oscar Yildiz, has hit out at his own council after they spent $22,000 of taxpayer money to promote the ‘yes’ vote in the Voice to Parliament.
Mr Yildiz was only one of two councillors who voted against the spending, and labelled the decision as a “waste of money”.

He also accused the council of using their platform to push their own agenda.
“I think it’s an abuse of their roles and I think it’s disgraceful behaviour,” Mr Yildiz told Neil Mitchell.
“This is a federal government referendum, not a Merri-bek referendum.”
