‘Disgraceful’: Why a Merri-Bek councillor has slammed his colleague over proposed motion

A Merri-Bek councillor has hit out at his colleague, James Conlan, over a motion aimed at banning Victoria Police from council events and facilities over concerns of their treatment towards minorities.

Oscar Yildiz told 3AW Mornings host, Tom Elliott, the motion was absurd, and uncalled for.

“It’s out of touch, it’s extremely disrespectful, and disgraceful … Don’t be surprised if he puts this up again for the July meeting,” he said.
