Disgusting thief steals fire brigade donation tin

Article image for Disgusting thief steals fire brigade donation tin

A heartless act resulting in the theft of a donation tin has been met with generosity from strangers on 3AW Mornings.

Neil Mitchell described the theft of the Bayles Fire Brigade’s charity tin as ‘the lowest of the low’.

Bayles CFA Captain Tim English said there would have only been a small amount of money in the tin.

“It’s not a huge amount of money but every bit helps,” he said.

“There was probably only around $30 or $40 in there.

Listener Rod called in immediately and offered $100, challenging others to beat his offer.

Alex then donated $500.

“When good people do good things and bad things happen I get upset,” Alex said.

Tony, a former CFA volunteer, then offered $100.

Grant gave $50 – meaning the total amount donated is $750.

An emotional Captain English said he didn’t know what to say.
