‘Distressing and inconvenient’: Police warn of spike in number plate theft

A rising wave of number plate and vehicle thefts across key Victorian suburbs has left many locals feeling on edge about their safety.

Certain areas are suffering the brunt of the spike, driving a sharp surge in stolen plates right across the state.

Speaking with 3AW Drive’s Jacqui Felgate, Victoria Police Commander Jacki Klin called the trend “distressing” and a major “inconvenience” for law-abiding drivers just trying to go about their day.
