UPDATE: Police clarify reports of attempted abduction

UPDATE: Police have established two men who urged a teenage girl to get into a white van at Somerville on Tuesday were in fact legitimate PTV staff.

Concerns were flagged about a terrifying attempted abduction near Somerville train station.

Victoria Police had been told two men, claiming to be bus replacement staff, had pulled up alongside the teenager in a white van with a PTV sticker and urged her to get in before driving off after she refused.

Investigators have since spoken with the bus driver and established the bus was a legitimate replacement bus.

No offence has been detected.
